Why Single Leg Training Should Be in Your Workout

Most of life happens one leg at a time. Walking, running, climbing stairs, and even stepping off a curb all require you to control your body on one leg. That’s why exercises like split squats, step ups, and single leg deadlifts deserve a place in almost everyone’s strength program.

Single leg training helps build strength while also challenging balance and stability. It can also expose differences between sides that may be harder to notice during exercises like squats and deadlifts. You don’t need perfect symmetry, but improving control and strength on each side can make everyday movement and training feel better.

At Movement Lab we combine bilateral exercises with single leg movements instead of choosing one or the other. Squats and deadlifts are great for building overall strength, while single leg exercises give us another way to challenge the hips and legs and keep your program well-rounded.
