Rows are one of the most useful upper body exercises you can include in a strength program. Whether you’re using dumbbells, cables, machines, or a TRX, rowing movements train the muscles of your upper back while also requiring your shoulders and shoulder blades to work together.
A good strength program should include plenty of pulling especially for people who spend a lot of their day sitting at a desk or working in front of a computer. Rows can help build a stronger upper back, improve control of the shoulder blades, and balance out all of the pressing exercises most people already love doing.
At Movement Lab we use several different row variations depending on the person and their goals. Chest supported rows, single arm cable rows, TRX rows, and dumbbell rows all challenge the body a little differently. You don’t need one perfect row you need a variation you can perform well, progressively strengthen, and consistently include in your training.
